For immediate release: September 09, 2015
BALTIMORE – September 9, 2015 -- Kristin Jones, currently Chief of Staff to Speaker Michael E. Busch of the Maryland House of Delegates, will join the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) on Oct 19th as Vice President of External Affairs. Her primary duties will include project management, network development and coordination, and government relations.
”We are delighted to welcome Kristin to the UMMS family,” said Robert A. Chrencik, president and chief executive officer of UMMS. “Her talents and expertise will be tremendous assets as UMMS charts its strategic course for the future, evolving our business to meet the challenges of the current environment while remaining focused on providing high-quality, high-value patient care to the people of Maryland – both in and out of the hospital setting.”
Prior to being named Chief of Staff in 2005, Jones served as Counsel to the House Economic Matters Committee, where she focused on healthcare and insurance issues. She began her career in Annapolis shortly after law school, and has considerable experience in budget, health, education and transportation matters. She graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Massachusetts and earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland School of Law. She was admitted to the Maryland bar in 1998, and was named one of The Baltimore Sun’s 50 Women to Watch in 2013.
“Throughout my legislative career, I have never known anyone with a better grasp of Maryland’s healthcare delivery system than Kristin Jones,” said Speaker Michael E. Busch. “Kristin is well-respected in both state government and healthcare circles and will be a true asset to the University of Maryland Medical System. Kristin has helped navigate the House of Delegates through some of the most complex policy initiatives in the State. My loss is UMMS’ gain: they could not have made a better choice than Kristin Jones.”
