BALTIMORE, Oct. 20, 2016 – The University of Maryland Medical System is delighted by the Maryland Health Care Commission’s (MHCC) approval of Dimensions Healthcare System’s Certificate of Need application for a new regional medical center in Prince George’s County. The approval of the Certificate of Need triggers a series of events which includes the University of Maryland Medical System assuming sole corporate ownership of Dimensions. This formal transition will not occur for several months pending required regulatory and legal steps, including the execution of a formal affiliation agreement between UMMS and Dimensions.

UMMS offers its sincere appreciation to Commissioner Moffit and the MHCC for their diligent work, thoroughness, and thoughtfulness in reviewing this complex application. All of us share a passion for maximizing the delivery of high quality, cost effective health care to the people of Maryland, and we recognize the enormous trust placed in us to take on this incredibly important mission. We pledge to deliver the best we have to offer, in both optimal patient care as well as operational and financial efficiency. We look forward to helping usher in a new era of health care delivery in Prince George’s County.
