Become a Licensed Practical Nurse
UM BWMC is piloting an LPN Pathway program for a small cohort of current Patient Care Assistants (PCAs), Patient Care Techs (PCTs) and Mental Health Associates (MHAs) looking to advance their careers. This innovative program is run in partnership with Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) and the Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation (AAWDC). It creates a straightforward approach for PCAs, PCTs and MHAs to become Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs).
Qualified candidates are current PCAs, PCTs or MHAs who have worked at UM BWMC either full - or part-time for at least six months. The first cohort being piloted is for students who have completed all of the prerequisites for AACC’s LPN program.
Those accepted into the year-long program conveniently attend classes, simulations and clinicals on the UM BWMC campus. They are also assigned an AACC advisor and an AAWDC career coach to assist with educational needs and help plan their transition.
Finally, once team members complete the program and receive board certification, they enter a new LPN role at UM BWMC.
