More than 2,500 meals were provided to hospital workers and care providers in recognition of their continued commitment to caring
Glen Burnie, Md (April 3, 2023) - Caring for the health of our community is highly challenging work in the best of times – even more so during stressful times. Three years after the COVID-19 pandemic began, over 2,500 hospital team members at UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center received a very special "thank you" for their unwavering commitment to supporting the health of the community.
The owners of Two Rivers Steak & Fish House in Pasadena, Maryland partnered with more than 25 local businesses and private donors from Anne Arundel County to organize a two-day "Feed the Hospital Team" event on Sunday, March 26 and Monday, March 27 at the Glen Burnie hospital. The restaurant dispatched a full staff of catering professionals to UM BWMC's campus, where they set up a massive outdoor kitchen and meal preparation line.
Over 100 volunteers, including community, hospital and foundation board members, helped deliver hot plates for workers inside the hospital who were not able to step away from their patient care responsibilities. Other meal deliveries went to team members who work in offsite outpatient care facilities. Food deliveries were met with smiles and thank yous from grateful team members
Tony Toskov, owner of Two Rivers Steak & Fish House says he is deeply grateful for the health care workers for all the ways they continue to serve the community. "As a local businessman and resident of Anne Arundel County, I know the importance of having expert care close to home. I have a deep appreciation of what an amazing hospital we have in our community. UM BWMC team members are the backbone of our community's health and wellbeing," said Toskov a longtime supporter of the hospital.
"At UM BWMC, we are fortunate to have community members who appreciate and recognize the incredible care and hard work that our team members dedicate to each and every patient, every day," said Kathy Burk, vice president and executive director of the BWMC Foundation. "Recognition such as today's event means so much to our team members, both here and at all of our outpatient facilities, because it's an opportunity for them to see and feel the appreciation from our community. After the past three years, this means the world to our team, and it is greatly appreciated."
To organize an event of this size, the team at Two Rivers Steak & Fish House took a week to prepare the food needed to feed the hospital team members. Each meal contained chicken marsala, baked ziti, veggies and fresh bread plus dessert and a drink.
