Lung Cancer
The UM Capital Region Health cancer care team offers the latest diagnostic technology and multidisciplinary treatment services for lung cancer, the leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States.
We also offer lung cancer screenings for those at higher risk but who are not having symptoms.
Lung Cancer Symptoms
Lung cancer may not cause symptoms right away. Often, lung cancers do not cause any symptoms until they have spread.
Possible symptoms include:
- Blood in your spit or phlegm
- Chest pain
- Wheezing and coughing that doesn’t go away or worsens over time
- Fatigue or unexplained weight loss
- Hoarseness or shortness of breath
While these symptoms can be caused by another conditions, it’s still important to tell your doctor right away if you have them. Even nonsmokers can get lung cancer.
If lung cancer is suspected, your doctor may refer you to the UM Capital Region Health cancer care team for further workup and treatment as necessary.
