Advancing Neurosurgical Care in Prince George's County

Robot-Assisted Spinal Fusion Surgery

Neurosurgeons at UM Capital Region Health performed the first robot-assisted spinal fusion surgery in Prince George's County.

In this procedure, specialists use a robot to precisely locate the position of the vertebrae before making an incision, allowing them to operate with more precision and accuracy. Patients generally experience fewer complications, quicker recovery and less post-operative pain.

Diagnostic Angiogram

Our neurosurgery team also performed the first diagnostic cerebral angiogram in Prince George's County.

A diagnostic cerebral angiogram helps visualize cerebral blood vessels with higher definition, capturing details that other modalities, such as CT or MR, cannot. Based on the results from this procedure and the patient's evolving condition, our multidisciplinary team adjusted the treatment plan to aid in a faster recovery and shorter hospital stay.
