Psychiatric Inpatient Care
If you or a loved one requires further care, we provide inpatient behavioral health services at University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center. Our Inpatient Psychiatric Treatment Program consists of a multidisciplinary team of professionals who provide expertise in the treatment of a wide variety of disorders, including:
- Affective disorders
- Anxiety disorders
- Chronic mental illness
- Dual diagnosis conditions
- Psychotic illnesses
- Situational disorders
- Suicidal ideation
We use the therapeutic, community-based treatment model, with an emphasis on the group process. The UM Capital Region Medical Center Inpatient Unit accepts voluntary and involuntary patients 18 and older. Patients must be medically stable before admission (we do not provide detoxification programs). All patients are cared for in a safe and secure setting.
We provide short-term acute treatment. Most patients stay with us for about a week. Inpatient services include:
- Assessment and evaluation
- Discharge planning
- Individual, group, and family therapies
- Medicine adjustment
- Mental health education
- Recreational, art, music, and occupational therapies
Our specialized psychiatric and behavioral case managers work with you or your loved one to focus on your specific concerns in a structured ways. Individual and group sessions teach patients life skills and strategies to structure their day and set realistic goals.
