Many people living with SCD find themselves challenged to meet the basic requirements of daily living. Because pain or VOE crises can happen at any time and can be debilitating, it is often difficult to find flexible and compassionate employers, attend school or even find a place to live.

Through our partnership with PATHS, UM Capital Region Health Adult Sickle Cell Clinic can connect SCD patients with social services that make things a little bit easier.

  • Transportation to and from medical appointments
  • Food assistance through vouchers and gift cards
  • Help in researching employment, job training and housing options

The UM Capital Region Health Adult Sickle Cell Clinic is staffed with a dedicated social worker who can help patients access the resources that are offered through PATHS, a grant-funded non-profit organization committed to helping sickle cell warriors in Prince George’s County access the top-tier clinical services and community support they deserve.
