High-Risk Pregnancies
The UM Capital Region Health maternal-fetal medicine (MFM) program helps women with medium to high-risk pregnancies deliver healthy babies.
Our program presents patients with comprehensive options for delivery, no matter how complicated, to provide the best chance of high-risk pregnancies proceeding to full term.
UM Capital Region Medical Center features the only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Prince George's County to care for babies with special needs.
All our MFM specialists have birthing privileges at UM Capital Region Medical Center. Direct access to the hospital center's resources affords our MFM specialists more options when it comes to helping at-risk mothers carry and deliver healthy babies.
Our MFM specialists treat a variety of pregnancy-related conditions, including:
- Cervical insufficiency
- Gestational diabetes
- Ectopic pregnancy
- Fetal anomalies
- Multiple babies
- Pregnancy-associated hypertension
- Preterm labor or birth
- Rh sensitization
