Machine for interventional radiology

Help UM Charles Regional Medical Center Meet the Needs of Our Growing Community

As part of our ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality health care and to accommodate the growing needs of Charles County, we are improving and modernizing our interventional radiology services. Interventional Radiology (IR) is a medical specialty that uses imaging techniques to help diagnose and treat issues with blood vessels and lymph nodes, like angioplasties, biopsies, and ablations.

Your support will help UM Charles Regional offer interventional radiology treatments that:

  • Are state of the art
  • Are minimally invasive: Most IR procedures involve only small incisions
  • Require significantly less recovery time compared to traditional surgeries
  • Carry fewer risks, particularly for post-operation infection

Your support will benefit patients by helping us offer services that offer:

  • Offer less risk, less recovery time and less discomfort than traditional surgery
  • Small to no incisions
  • Same-day, minimally invasive procedures, allowing patients to quickly resume daily activities
  • Access to leading edge care
  • Short waiting times to schedule procedures
  • Reduced need for general anesthesia (except in special circumstances)
