Neurologist Getinet Kassa, MD, is now offering his services at the UM Charles Regional Medical Group Pavilion in La Plata.

LA PLATA, Md. (January 21, 2025) – University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center (UM Charles Regional), a member organization of the University of Maryland Medical System, is now providing outpatient neurology services, marking a significant step in expanding specialty medical care for Charles County and surrounding communities.

As part of this service expansion, board-certified neurologist and epilepsy specialist Getinet Abebe Kassa, MD, who has extensive expertise in diagnosing and managing complex neurological conditions, has joined UM Charles Regional Medical Group.

Dr. Kassa is now accepting patients at UM Charles Regional Medical Group – Neurology located in the La Plata Medical Pavilion at 5 N. La Plata Court, Suite 103, where he provides comprehensive care for conditions such as epilepsy, stroke, migraines, movement disorders, and other neurological concerns.

Dr. Kassa’s medical career spans decades, with specialized training that includes a fellowship in epilepsy at the University of Pennsylvania and a residency in neurology at Rutgers University’s New Jersey Medical School. Most recently, Dr. Kassa served as stroke director at ChristianaCare’s Union Neurology practice, where he gained recognition for his contributions to stroke prevention and treatment.

Dr. Kassa is board-certified in neurology and epilepsy by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and he is a member of the American Academy of Neurology. Patients will benefit from Dr. Kassa’s personalized care, which integrates advanced diagnostic tools with evidence-based treatments. Passionate about community engagement, Dr. Kassa is dedicated to meeting the diverse needs of Southern Maryland’s growing population.
