Jameel Shareef, DO, a physician with advanced training in internal medicine and digestive disorders, has joined the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Group – Gastroenterology practice as the team of clinical providers continues to grow to meet the needs of the region's patients.

 

The University of Maryland Medical System today announced it is providing more than $2.3 million in grants across the state with a strategic focus on addressing issues of food insecurity and employment. The UMMS Community Impact Grant Program is awarding funding to nine individual organizations and one collaborative serving individuals across the System's footprint in Maryland.

University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Group – Primary Care is expanding its reach into western Charles County with a new location in Bryans Road. The new location opens Monday, July 25, and will provide much-needed medical services to an area that has limited health care options.

For the fourth year in a row, the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center has been recognized for excellence in the area of cardiovascular care, specifically as it relates to heart disease and strokes. The hospital is designated a Primary Stroke Center.

 

The University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center has added a running center to its Rehabilitation practice. Runners will work with a physical therapist to improve performance and recover from and prevent injuries.

The Center for Wound Healing at the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center has once again earned recognition from Healogics, a leading wound care provider, for exceptional care.

The University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center has joined with the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs to celebrate Juneteenth at the baseball team's game on June 18 at Regency Furniture Stadium in Waldorf.

To help mothers and their babies get off to a good start, the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center launched a regional 'Baby Closet' to assist families with diapers, wipes, and other necessities.

The University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Group opened a new urology practice this week at the Medical Pavilion at 5 N. La Plata Court just off St. Charles Parkway in La Plata. The new practice offers patients a full range of prostate, bladder and kidney urological services.

A two-year capital project will expand and renovate the UM Charles Regional Medical Center emergency department in La Plata to enable the hospital to meet the growing needs of Charles County.
