Magnet Designation

For the third consecutive time UMMC nursing has achieved a four-year Magnet® designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Magnet® is the gold standard in nursing, as only 8 percent of hospitals in the country have earned this recognition. Our pediatric nurses greatly contribute to this nursing success.

Comprehensive Cancer Center

The University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center (UMGCCC) is one of the National Cancer Institute's highest designation cancer hospitals. The prestigious distinction recognizes the cancer center's high caliber of scientific leadership and robust programs in basic, clinical and population science research, placing it in the top tier of cancer centers nationwide. Children's Pediatric Oncology benefits from the specialists at UMGCCC who work with our children and their families every day.

Daisy Award

The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses is a national recognition program to honor exemplary nurses. The UMMC DAISY Committee chooses one nurse each month to receive the DAISY Award, and our pediatric nurses are consistently selected. Learn More about the DAISY Award or nominate a nurse.

The UMMC extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) program was named a Center of Excellence Gold Level for 2023 by the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO). The Children’s Hospital has a dedicated ECMO team.
