UMMS Community Impact Grants
As a health care system dedicated to improving the health and wellness of the people of this state, University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) knows that our efforts must extend beyond the doors of our member hospitals.
Through our community grant program, we are partnering with other non-profits that serve the same communities we do in order to better support Marylanders who experience barriers to:
- Accessing quality health care
- Meeting their most basic needs
- Improving their well-being
UMMS Community Impact Grants fund programs and events that make a significant impact as they foster thriving, healthy communities in Maryland. The community grant program is one part of our comprehensive effort to promote equity, diversity and inclusion in our own organization and within our communities and partners.
Our Community Impact Grant Priorities
The vast majority of grants will go to initiatives that directly affect the health and wellness of Marylanders and/or aim to dismantle barriers to health, safety and wellness. For more details, please see our UMMS Community Impact Grant Guidelines.
UMMS Vision for Maryland Communities
All grants and sponsorships must be consistent with our mission, create positive visibility and demonstrate social responsibility.
As part of our vision for health care in Maryland and the nation, we recognize the importance of our role as anchor institutions for the communities we serve.
We know we must work to bring compassionate, high-quality care to them while leveraging the scale of our System to transform the way health care is delivered.
We seek to partner with organizations who, like us, are committed to innovation and discovery in medicine, health education and to the people of Maryland.
Applying for Community Grants
Who Can Apply
Applications are open to nonprofit community organizations and 501(c)(3) public charities that serve the same communities as UMMS.
Organizations may have a health-focused mission. But we encourage organizations whose primary focus is not health-related, such as cultural, civic and educational organizations, to apply if their proposal meets our UMMS Community Impact Grant Guidelines.
Programs and events funded must benefit communities in Maryland.
What We Fund
All UMMS grants, donations, sponsorships, company volunteer activities and in-kind services are coordinated and aligned with our mission, vision and values and are within our budget and resource limitations
UMMS community grant program funds both events and programs that promote the goals laid out in its UMMS Community Impact Grant Guidelines.
