Dr. Ciner believes in a patient-centered approach that prioritizes open communication and shared decision-making with the goal of providing evidence-based, compassionate care. With novel molecular tools to understand the genetic drivers of an individual’s cancer, he strives to identify optimal treatments for each patient based on the specific subtype and characteristics of their tumor. He works closely with his colleagues in surgical and radiation oncology and palliative care as well as nurse coordinators, medical assistants, social workers, nutritionists and genetic counselors to comprehensively care for each patient.
Dr. Ciner has particular interest in clinical research that focuses on characterizing unique subgroups of patients with pancreatic adenocarcinoma potentially amenable to targeted therapeutics, investigating therapeutic combination strategies to overcome primary or acquired immune-resistance in patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma and evaluating novel supportive care strategies for patients with advanced malignancies. He is the principal investigator for an ongoing phase two clinical trial for patients with advanced pancreatic adenocarcinoma. In addition, he is actively involved in several other clinical and translational research projects.
Dr. Ciner has presented abstracts at multiple national conferences—including research abstracts at the national American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) conference and the Supportive Care in Oncology Symposium—and written several peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. He is a member of ASCO.
