About Me
Dr. Ahmed is a psychiatrist with an extensive background in addiction medicine. He has been providing compassionate psychiatric care for more than 20 years. He specializes in managing psychiatric crisis cases such as suicidal ideations, mania and psychosis. In addition, has served as a specialist consultant in different branches of medical services in the inpatient setting—including intensive care, primary care and maternity care—treating depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, schizophrenia and more.
Dr. Ahmed is a member of the American Medical Association and the American Board of Medical Specialty. He is also a fellow in the American Psychiatric Association. Prior to joining University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health, Dr. Ahmed provided care in various inpatient and outpatient settings, including state facilities, federal and community hospitals, and his own private practice. After receiving his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C., he completed his residency and a community psychiatric fellowship at the University of Maryland Medical System.
