About Me
Amir R. Moinfar, M.D., completed advanced fellowship training in shoulder surgery and sports medicine at the Duke University Medical Center. His practice is dedicated primarily to both arthroscopic and open surgery of the shoulder and knee, and sports medicine. Dr. Moinfar is a native of Northern Virginia and obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia. He received his medical degree from Georgetown University and completed his orthopaedic surgical residency training at the University of Maryland/Shock Trauma Center.
Dr. Moinfar then pursued an additional year of fellowship training at Duke University where he gained expertise in the most advanced treatment of complex shoulder and knee conditions, including reconstructive and restorative procedures for cartilage, meniscus and ligament injuries.
Dr. Moinfar has special interest in the education, prevention and treatment of sports related injuries. He has acted as an assistant team physician for Duke University, North Carolina Central University, and Jordan High School. Dr. Moinfar's research interests include shoulder instability and knee ligament injuries.
Dr. Moinfar is a member of the University of Maryland Joint Network, a group of surgeons known for their advanced expertise and outcomes in total hip and knee replacement.
