About Me
As a surgical oncologist, Dr. Powers provides surgical care for patients who have cancer. His area of clinical focus is gastrointestinal surgical oncology, which includes the management of gastric, pancreas, biliary, liver, colorectal, neuroendocrine and appendiceal cancers. He is an expert in the treatment of peritoneal surface malignancies (tumors in the abdomen) with cytoreductive surgery and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy.
Committed to clinical excellence, Dr. Powers strives for high-quality delivery of compassionate, patient-centered cancer care. This is evident in his clinical research efforts, which have focused on improving cancer care coordination and quality of treatment. He has led multiple initiatives that encompass clinical care, translational research, clinical trials and trainee education.
