Heran Winta Gebreyesus, MD

A general ophthalmologist, Dr. Gebreyesus diagnoses and treats a wide range of eye conditions. She specializes in treating glaucoma, a group of diseases that damage the eye's optic nerve and can result in vision loss and even blindness.

In addition, Dr. Gebreyesus is passionate about medical education. She was a dedicated tutor while in medical school and was named chief resident during her residency. She also received academic and leadership awards during medical school and her residency.

Dr. Gebreyesus grew up in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. She is a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society. During her free time, she enjoys playing tennis, hiking and cooking.
