About Me
Dr. Perez-Alard is medical director of the CHF (Congestive Heart Failure)-Diuresis Bridge Clinic, which is a part of the Transitional Care Center at University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center (UM BWMC). He is also a transitional care provider.
As a health care provider, Dr. Perez-Alard helps patients with volume overload (a condition in which the body has too much fluid), optimizing their medications so they can feel better and helping to improve their quality of life.
"It's very rewarding when patients come in sick and we make them feel better, decrease their morbidity, and improve their longevity and quality of life," he says.
Dr. Perez-Alard was a part of a collaborative UM BWMC health care provider team that received a 2024 Circle of Honor award from the Maryland Patient Safety Center for implementing an interprofessional diuresis clinic for preventing heart failure hospitalizations.
In his free time, Dr. Perez-Alard enjoys martial arts, which he has been practicing since age 11.
