About Me
A neurologist, Dr. Savitt provides patient care for various movement disorders. He specializes in providing botulinum toxin and deep brain stimulation therapies. He also has a special interest in cerebellar ataxia, treating numerous patients for this relatively rare condition.
In addition to providing clinical care, Dr. Savitt has performed numerous clinical trials on Parkinson's disease, dystonia and other movement disorders. He has written numerous chapters and peer-reviewed articles and is a frequent speaker at patient- and physician-attended seminars.
A Maryland native, Dr. Savitt received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, and worked part-time at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. He then attended the University of Maryland, earning both his medical degree and PhD in biochemistry. He continued his training at Johns Hopkins, where he served as a neurology resident and research fellow.
Dr. Savitt remained at Johns Hopkins as a clinical and research faculty member. He also worked at a busy clinical practice in Columbia, Maryland, specializing in movement disorders. He joined the University of Maryland faculty in 2016 as a member of the Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Center.
Dr. Savitt has previously been named a "Top Doctor" in the "Neurology: Seizure & Movement Disorder" specialty by Baltimore magazine.
