About Me

Dr. Seif is an OB/GYN. He is committed to advancing the field of obstetrics and gynecology through working with health experts in other specialties, spreading knowledge and conducting research. His clinical, as well as research, interests include preterm labor and diabetes, infectious diseases and obesity in pregnancy.

As the director of the Diabetes in Pregnancy program at University of Maryland Medical Center, Dr. Seif leads a team that specializes in the prenatal and postpartum care of pregnant patients with gestational diabetes (a type of diabetes that can develop during pregnancy) as well as those with preexisting type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

Honors and awards Dr. Seif has earned in his career include 2023 Fellow of the Year and Physician Colleague of the Year awards from University of Maryland Medical Center. He also won first prize at the 2019 Inova Fairfax Resident Research Day event. Additionally, he received Inova Fairfax Hospital's Top Resident Teacher Award in 2017, 2018 and 2019. He also received Inova Fairfax's 2018 Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine Residency Program Award for excellence in obstetrics. Upon graduating from medical school, he received the prestigious Penrose Award, which is given to only one graduating medical student per class based on academic achievement, leadership, character and contribution to the university as a whole.

Dr. Seif is an assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences' Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at University of Maryland School of Medicine. He is also a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical society.

In his free time, Dr. Seif enjoys playing the piano, singing in choirs, traveling, and spending time with his wife and two daughters. He is fluent in English, French and Arabic. He is also proficient in medical Spanish.
