Katherine R. Goetzinger, MD

An obstetrician-gynecologist, Dr. Goetzinger has clinical interests in prenatal care of high-risk obstetric patients, including prenatal ultrasound and fetal diagnosis, and complex intrapartum management. She coordinates the Perinatal Telemedicine program, providing remote high-risk consultative services to patients across Maryland who otherwise may not have access to appropriate prenatal care.

Dr. Goetzinger is an assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM). She joined the UMSOM faculty in 2015 and currently serves as the director of perinatal outreach.

Dr. Goetzinger received her medical degree from UMSOM and completed her residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Washington University in St. Louis. She then went on to complete a fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis (Missouri), during which time she also received a Master of Science degree in clinical investigation.

Dr. Goetzinger's clinical research focuses on the use of sonographic markers to predict placental dysfunction and subsequent adverse pregnancy outcomes as well as the use of three-dimensional brain blood flow patterns to predict obstetric and neonatal outcomes in growth-restricted fetuses.

Dr. Goetzinger is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine and the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is a reviewer for multiple journals and is one of the Editors for Trainees for Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is actively engaged in medical education at all levels of training, with a focus on the incorporation of epidemiologic principles and evidence-based medicine into clinical practice.

Dr. Goetzinger has previously been named a "Top Doctor" in the specialty of maternal-fetal medicine by Baltimore magazine.
