Laura S. Buchanan, MD

Laura S. Buchanan, MD, is an Assistant Professor, Trauma/ Surgical Critical Care and a faculty member of the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center of the University of Maryland. She completed her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences at the Illinois State University, and medical school and a general surgery residency at the West Virginia University.

She completed her trauma/surgical critical care fellowship at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center of the University of Maryland. She has been a faculty member at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center of the University of Maryland since 2011 where she has been heavily involved in educational programs for medical students, residents, and critical care fellows. Dr. Buchanan's research has focused on Geriatric patients with acute surgical needs and surgical education.
