About Me
Dr. Im was named a "Top Doctor" in the specialty of ophthalmology by Baltimore magazine in 2020.
Dr. Im's clinical interest is in glaucoma and cataracts.
A native Northern Virginian, Dr. Im graduated cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Virginia. Her residency training was at the University of Pittsburgh Eye Center and she completed her glaucoma fellowship at Duke University Eye Center.
Dr. Im joined the University of Maryland in 2007 and served as Director of the Glaucoma Service from 2007 to 2019. She is now the Director of the University of Maryland Eye Associates at McDonogh. She was also the former Chief of Ophthalmology at the Baltimore Veterans Affairs Hospital.
Dr. Im was one of the first ophthalmologists in the state of Maryland to adopt cutting edge technology with Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS). She is an expert in both traditional and MIGS surgery and continues to add new platforms in treating glaucoma.
She has a keen interest in the early detection of glaucoma and actively participates in community outreach with the University of Maryland medical students providing monthly free vision and glaucoma screenings.
Dr. Im treats all adult forms and stages of glaucoma utilizing the latest medical, laser and surgical advancements. She also performs cataract surgery in all patients with or without glaucoma.
