About Me
Dr. Kim treats a broad range of diseases, including cancers of the genitourinary (prostate, bladder and kidney), gastrointestinal and musculoskeletal (sarcomas) systems. He specializes in various techniques for radiation treatment, including:
- High dose-rate brachytherapy
- Intensity modulated radiation therapy
- Proton therapy
- Stereotactic body radiation therapy
- Y-90 radioembolization/selective internal radiation therapy (use of microscopic glass beads to target cancers affecting the liver)
For patients with prostate cancer, Dr. Kim offers additional services including gel spacer and fiducial marker placements, which help guide radiation to the targeted area while protecting healthy tissues. During his fellowship, he completed rigorous training in brachytherapy applications for prostate and gynecological cancers as well as metastases-directed brachytherapy directed at cancer cells that have spread to other parts of the body.
Dr. Kim is an assistant professor of radiation oncology at University of Maryland School of Medicine. He grew up in Canada, where he completed most of his medical training.
