Michelle A. Ghert, MD

An orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Ghert specializes in musculoskeletal oncology, the diagnosis and treatment of bone and soft tissue tumors. She has extensive experience in the diagnosis and surgical management of benign (non-cancerous) and malignant (cancerous) tumors of the musculoskeletal system as well as complex limb reconstruction. She is also a national and international leader in:

• Multidisciplinary management
• Sarcoma care (medical treatment of sarcoma, a rare type of cancer that develops in the bones or soft tissues of the body, typically involving surgery)

Dr. Ghert began her independent clinical and academic career as an assistant professor at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada in 2005, being promoted to professor in 2017. She was recruited by the University of Maryland, where she opened her clinical practice in 2024.
