About Me
Dr. Tavakoli has been practicing medicine for more than 30 years. His areas of concentration are adult, geriatric and palliative medicine.
Dr. Tavakoli is a professor of family medicine at his alma mater, Ross University School of Medicine (RUSM). He served as clinical director of the Family Medicine Residency Program at University of Maryland Capital Region Health from 1992 to 2000. He was instrumental in restarting University of Maryland Capital Region Health's Family Medicine Residency Program in 2014 and currently serves on the program's faculty. He is also chair of University of Maryland Capital Region Health's Department of Family Medicine and the RUSM Clinical Track Program's director of medical education.
Passionate about medical education, Dr. Tavakoli enjoys teaching medical students and residents, which he has been doing for many years. He is a role model and mentor to RUSM students as well as family medicine residents at University of Maryland Capital Region Health. The compassion and leadership with which he helps guide students and residents earned him "Best Junior Resident" honors during the second year of his family medicine residency at University of Maryland Capital Region Health. He was chief resident in the final year of his residency.
