About Me
Dr. Goel practices as a teaching hospitalist for both adult and pediatric patients. She is also a physician advisor for University of Maryland Medical Center, focusing on clinical denials, throughput, patient safety and regulatory compliance. She also leads initiatives in quality improvement and patient safety for the Internal Medicine and Pediatrics departments at University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM).
Dr. Goel grew up in Timonium, Maryland. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. After earning her master's degree from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, she spent two years doing research at the Kennedy Krieger Institute, studying Fragile X Syndrome. She then attended UMSOM, graduating in 2010. She remained at UMSOM for her residency training in internal medicine and pediatrics. Following the completion of her training, she joined the UMSOM faculty with joint appointments in internal medicine and pediatrics.
Dr. Goel was named a 2020 Baltimore magazine "Top Doctor" in the specialty of hospitalist medicine. Her research interests are predominantly in improving the safety and quality of inpatient hospital care and early detection of patient deterioration.
