About Me
Dr. Malek is an endocrinologist. She has a special interest in metabolic health with a focus on:
- Pre-diabetes
- Gestational diabetes (a type of diabetes that can develop during pregnancy in women who don't already have diabetes)
- Polycystic ovary syndrome, or PCOS (health problem in women that can cause hormonal imbalance and metabolism problems affecting their overall health and appearance)
- Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (genetic disorder affecting the adrenal glands)
Dr. Malek is highly experienced in Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes management. She works as a part of a multi-disciplinary team to improve the care of all her patients with diabetes. She uses continuous glucose monitors and insulin pumps to improve diabetes management. She has clinical and research experience with managing patients with extreme insulin resistance.
Dr. Malek is the program director of the Endocrinology and Diabetes Fellowship at University of Maryland School of Medicine. She sees patients at the University of Maryland Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology at Midtown.
Dr. Malek has previously been recognized as a "Top Doctor" in the specialties of diabetes care and endocrinology by Baltimore magazine.
