About Me

An orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Pensy specializes in hand surgery, upper extremity reconstruction and orthopedic traumatology (the care of patients with complex fractures).

Dr. Pensy sees patients at University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC), including in the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, for hand and upper extremity care. He performs outpatient procedures at the University of Maryland Rehabilitation and Orthopaedic Institute and complex reconstructions at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. Specifically, he performs bone, nerve, vascular and soft tissue procedures. A major focus of his practice is a commitment to limb salvage.

During his residency at UMMC and the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, Dr. Pensy developed an interest in hand and reconstructive microsurgery. While serving in the US Air Force, he was stationed at Andrews Air Force Base and deployed to Iraq in 2005. During this service, his commitment to treating severe extremity injuries strengthened.

Dr. Pensy is a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the Orthopaedic Trauma Association and the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery. He has previously been recognized as a "Top Doctor" in the specialty of orthopedic hand surgery by Baltimore magazine.
