About Me

Dr. Kanani treats all cancer types. He has special interests in cancers of the prostate, brain, lung, esophagus, head and neck, and gastrointestinal tract.

Passionate about the way the field of radiation oncology blends technology with medicine, Dr. Kanani takes a multidisciplinary approach to care, collaborating with other physicians to provide the best possible outcomes for patients. He feels it is important to provide emotional support to patients as they navigate their cancer journeys.

Dr. Kanani previously worked as a radiation oncologist for Radiation Oncology Associates PC at the Inova Schar Cancer Institute in Virginia, where he also served as co-director of the stereotactic radiosurgery program and chief of prostate brachytherapy. Also during his time there, he supported the development and implementation of a multidisciplinary genitourinary clinic, where experts from different specialties collaborated to help patients achieve the best possible outcomes. He also developed particle therapy, prostate brachytherapy and spine radiosurgery programs. From January 2017 to November 2019, he received proton therapy training and provided radiation oncology services at the Maryland Proton Treatment Center while also serving as an Inova affiliate physician.

Dr. Kanani has previously been recognized as one of "Washington, DC's Very Best Doctors" by Washingtonian. He has been a presenter at various national meetings, including those of the American Society for Radiation Oncology, the American Radium Society, the Radiological Society of North America, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
