About Me
Dr. Bassi is a sports medicine physician. He did his residency in family medicine and fellowship in sports medicine. His passion for sports medicine is evident in his enthusiasm for helping athletes of all ages and skill levels recover from concussions and other injuries..
Dr. Bassi's expertise extends to various procedures, including ultrasound-guided injections, platelet-rich plasma (using the patient's own blood platelets to stimulate healing) and Coolief (radiofrequency procedure for multiple joints). His dedication inspires confidence in his patients that they are in the good hands of a skilled physician.
His experience as a pilot helped Dr. Bassi hone his ability to make critical decisions in high-pressure situations, which has instilled a sense of trust in his patients and colleagues. Whether it's communicating clearly with air traffic controllers and crew members or effectively with patients, families and other healthcare professionals, his sound decision-making under pressure is a testament to his expertise.
A leader in his field, Dr. Bassi is medical director of sports medicine at University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health, The John Carroll School (Bel Air, Maryland) and Harford County Public Schools. In addition to his role as medical director, Dr. Bassi is a part of Upper Chesapeake Orthopedic Specialty Group.
Dr. Bassi was among the first international alums to graduate with a Master in Medicine degree from Medical University–Pleven, a medical university in Bulgaria. Since December 2022, he has been the official representative of MU-Pleven in the organizing and conducting of the practical rotation program at University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health under the student affiliation agreement between the University of Maryland Medical System Corporation and MU-Pleven. Due to his persistence, the program has become possible. In March 2023, he was awarded the academic title "Honorary International Professor at Medical University-Pleven" for his valuable contribution to medical students' higher education and training mobility. He has been helping international medical students from MU-Pleven with remote lectures and consultations on selected topics in his field of expertise.
In addition, Dr. Bassi makes immense contributions to the community. Most notably, he is a staunch supporter of the Bel Air Police Department, showing his appreciation through kind gestures such as bringing meals and treats to the department for officers and staff to enjoy.
Dr. Bassi has been conducting UM Upper Chesapeake Health marathons since 2019 and was the director of Upper Chesapeake Health's first orthopedic continuing medical education (CME) event for primary care physicians (in 2024).
