About Me
A midwife, Elizabeth Kartal provides full-scope midwifery care. She is especially interested in family planning, inspiring fearless birthing and providing care that empowers women in all aspects of their lives. She is a part of a dynamic and highly skilled group of midwives providing care to women of diverse backgrounds.
Kartal believes that all women deserve to live with dignity and have control over life choices regarding reproduction. She loves living in Baltimore and caring for women in the area. A yoga teacher who has traveled to India twice to study and teach yoga, she loves to incorporate her yoga-inspired knowledge of the body into her midwifery care.
Kartal worked in the emergency department as a nurse for several years. Prior to her nursing career, she served two years in the U.S. Peace Corps, during which time she discovered passions for travel, teaching and empowering women. She has traveled to Uganda and Haiti to provide midwifery care to women in resource-depleted settings.
Kartal aspires to help the International Red Cross and Doctors’ Without Borders serve refugee families living in crisis in transitional refugee camps. She recognizes that “midwives save lives” internationally and wishes to contribute to any improvement in the lives of those most desperately in need.
