About Me
Katharine Bisordi is a genetic counselor. She focuses on adult cancer genetics, taking into account family and medical histories in providing a comprehensive assessment of a patient's hereditary cancer risk.
Bisordi worked as a genetic specialist in the research department at the Indiana Hemophilia & Thrombosis Center (Indianapolis, Indiana) before moving to Baltimore, Maryland, to pursue a career in genetic counseling. After earning her master's degree in genetic counseling, she joined the genetics team in the Department of Pediatrics at University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM). She later joined UMSOM's Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences.
Bisordi remains active in UMSOM's Master’s in Genetic Counseling Program as a faculty member, instructor, student thesis committee member and student clinical supervisor. She was a founding member of the Maryland and DC Society of Genetic Counselors. She continues to have an active role on multiple committees.
A fun fact: Bisordi was the first to obtain a Maryland genetic counselor license.
