About Me
Marian Grant is a hospice and palliative care nurse practitioner. In her role, she provides specialized care for patients with a serious or terminal illness (such as heart failure, cancer, dementia and Parkinson's disease) focused on comfort and quality of life.
The daughter of immigrants and refugees, Grant is a policy consultant for the Coalition to Transform Advanced Care, Center to Advance Palliative Care and National Patient Advocacy Foundation. She is also a marketing consultant for the University of Washington’s MessageLab Serious Illness Messaging project and VitalTalk. In addition, she is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins nursing schools.
In 2014, Grant was selected as a Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Fellow, a role in which she worked on Capitol Hill and at the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation. She has served on the board of the Carolinas Center and the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association. She speaks both nationally and internationally on topics related to palliative care, messaging and health policy.
Before becoming a nurse, Grant had a career in marketing at Procter & Gamble, where she worked on projects for cosmetic brands such as Max Factor and Cover Girl.
