About Me
Sherla Farrell-Sealey is a nurse practitioner with more than 15 years of clinical and administrative expertise in various roles. She has experience in managing venous stasis ulcers of the legs; pressure ulcers; non-healing surgical wounds; and wounds caused by autoimmune diseases such as sickle cell, scleroderma and lupus. She also has experience in managing surgical wound complications resulting from body contouring surgeries.
Farrell-Sealey believes a holistic, comprehensive approach to wound care mitigates factors that may delay wound healing. She uses advanced wound care modalities, combined with basic wound care methods, to achieve optimal, timely wound healing. She became a certified wound specialist while working at a subacute rehab facility, where she gained valuable experience managing various complex medical conditions and wounds.
Farrell-Sealey's patients enjoy their visits with her, as she is personable. She explains the disease process and treatment plan in a clear and concise manner. She believes in involving the patient in their care and working with them in overcoming any barrier to complete wound healing.
Farrell-Sealey worked for 10 years as a registered nurse in a medical-cardiac unit. She received a 2004 Medical Service Nursing Award and three consecutive Best Patient Advocate awards, all from the Johns Hopkins Hospital.
