Valerie Lyle Henshaw, CRNP

A nurse practitioner, Valerie Henshaw specializes in the diagnosis and management of COPD. She cares for patients in the hospital as well as in outpatient settings.

Henshaw is committed to providing high-quality care for her patients. She believes that the best way to provide high-quality care is to acknowledge the patient’s individuality with a personalized, patient-centered approach. She utilizes a collaborative team, working closely with pharmacy and nursing specialists, to exceed patient expectations while encouraging an enhanced quality of life.

Henshaw has more than 20 years of nursing experience. She began her career with University of Maryland Medical System at University of Maryland Medical Center's R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, specializing in intensive care and trauma resuscitation. Her passion for nursing and desire to advance her education led her to pursue an advanced degree as a nurse practitioner. As a nurse practitioner, she worked in primary care before joining the pulmonology team at University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center.

When she’s not caring for patients, Henshaw prioritizes time with family and friends. She also enjoys maintaining a healthy lifestyle with yoga, paddle boarding, gardening and chasing after her twin boys.
