The UMMS beside delivery service brings your medications to you before you leave the hospital, saving you a trip to the pharmacy and reducing wait times. 

This convenient, free service helps ease your transition of care from hospital to home, providing pharmacist-conducted patient education and counseling in addition to timely preparation of medications.

How Bedside Delivery Works

Our pharmacy team:

  • Coordinates with your care team to deliver your prescriptions to your bedside upon being discharged
  • Reviews and confirms your current medications and new prescriptions
  • Assists with any necessary insurance authorizations
  • Ensures you have all the information you need to take your medications appropriately

Once your medication is ready, a pharmacy technician brings it to your hospital room before you are discharged.

We make every effort to deliver your medications during regular bedside delivery hours. However, if you are discharged outside of these hours, we make sure your medication is ready for pickup from the hospital pharmacy. We can also send the prescription to the pharmacy of your choice. 

Arranging Bedside Delivery

UMMC Downtown Bedside Delivery Hours: 9am – 6pm, Monday through Friday. To set up delivery, talk to your nurse or call 8-5233 on your hospital room phone (or 410-328-5233 from an outside line) during the program's regular hours.

UMMC Midtown Bedside Delivery Hours: 8:30am – 6pm, Monday through Friday and weekends from 10am – 6pm. To set up delivery, talk to your nurse or call 410-856-3854 during the program's regular hours. 

UMMC Capital Region Bedside Delivery Hours: 9am – 5pm, Monday through Friday. To set up delivery, talk to your nurse or call pharmacy phone at 240-677-2133. 

UMMC Baltimore Washing Bedside Delivery Hours: 9am – 5pm, Monday through Friday. To set up delivery, talk to your nurse or call 667-888-2999.
