Professional Fees

The Program pays the membership dues for Internal Medicine residents to belong to the American College of Physicians (ACP), and will provide to each Internal Medicine resident a subscription to Digital Version of ACP's Medical Knowledge Self-Assessment Program (MKSAP), a well-regarded Board preparation resource. Finally, every PGY 3 resident will receive a subscription to UWorld, a comprehensive Board review program. Additionally, if residents engage in scholarly activities at our institution that are accepted for first author presentation or publication at scientific conferences or journals, the residency program will seek funding on behalf of residents so they can present their abstracts or publish their manuscripts.

Medical Benefit

Gold Plan, Silver Plan, & Bronze Plan (refer to Benefits Overview for comparison) Residents and their families are offered a choice of three plans, with three Preferred Provider Organization (PP0) options for medical benefits. Your plan choice and the provider whom you see for services determine your coverage – you have the option of seeing UMMC Midtown Campus providers, CareFirst Blue Cross/ Blue Shield in-network providers, or out-of-network providers. Pre-tax, bi-weekly contribution is required per employee.

Dental Benefit

UMMC Midtown Campus offers a traditional dental plan. You may visit the provider of your choice. Preventative services are covered at 100%. Pre-tax, bi-weekly contribution is required per employee.

Pharmacy Benefit Prescription

Coverage is available through the UMMC Midtown Campus Pharmacy for the lowest co-pay amounts. Prescription coverage is also available through Express Scripts Pharmacies for higher co-pays.

Voluntary Vision Plan

UMMC Midtown Campus offers the option to purchase a vision plan that provides coverage for an annual routine examination, frames, lenses and discount for laser vision correction. This Plan is administered through Advantica EyeCare with In-network and Out-of-network coverage options. A pre-tax contribution is required per employee bi-weekly.

Flexible Spending Accounts

UMMC Midtown Campus offers all eligible employees access to pre-tax spending accounts for health care and dependent (child) care expenses. You can put money away on a pre-tax basis and be reimbursed for eligible expenses that you incur during the plan year.

Basic Life Insurance

UMMC Midtown Campus provides eligible employees with group term life and accidental death & dismemberment insurance (AD&D); the amount of coverage is equal to 1 ½ times of your annual base salary. The benefit is paid in full by the hospital. There is a six-month waiting period before this benefit becomes effective.

Supplemental Life Insurance

You may choose to purchase additional life insurance for yourself, spouse, and/or children at a discounted group rate. There is a six-month waiting period before this benefit becomes effective. Please refer to the Benefits Overview for details.

Tax Sheltered Annuity 403(b) Retirement Savings Plan:

You are eligible to participate in the 403(b) Retirement Savings Plan and will be auto-enrolled with a 2% pre-tax deferral rate at time of hire. You may change your deferral rate at any time and elect to have your deferrals made pre-tax where federal, state and local income taxes are deferred until you withdraw money from the account or after tax (Roth deferrals). Maximum contributions vary by age and year of contribution. If you are contributing to the 403(b) Retirement Savings Plan and have one year of service, UMMC Midtown will match 100% of your 403(b) contribution, up to 4% of your salary deferral.

Vacation

The vacation benefit for Residents is 120 hours per fiscal year. Trainees are entitled to four weeks of paid vacation (PTO) per year, without carryover from year to year during the term of this Agreement. The details of these benefits are set forth in the GME Manual's Vacation, Paid Time Off, Leave and Extension of Training Policy. In addition, the Trainee's Program Director may supplement the Hospital's policy with written procedures pertaining to the individual Program's requirements for utilizing this benefit.

Sick Leave

UMMC Midtown provides eligible employees with protection against loss of earnings on a short-term basis due to a personal illness or injury (non-work related). The maximum benefit is 10 days (80 hours) per year. Also see the Vacation, Paid Time Off, Leave and Extension of Training Policy in the GME Manual.

Holidays

Holidays are opportunities for paid leave. UMMC Midtown Campus observes 7 Calendar Holidays (New Year's Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas). Midtown employees must use their Paid Time Off if requesting off during this time.

Funeral Leave

Employees receive a maximum of three days with pay for immediate family members.

Jury or Witness Duty

Regular full-time and regular part-time employees are eligible for the pay difference in an amount equal to base pay for actual hours lost.

Workers Compensation

All employees are covered for this benefit. If any injury occurs when at work, please notify your supervisor immediately and complete the proper paperwork.

Additional Benefits Available

Employee Assistance Program

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a confidential counseling and referral service available to all employees and their family members. The EAP is staffed by trained mental health professionals; the first three visits are provided free of charge.

Parking Benefit

Residents who apply for parking in one the UMMC Midtown Campus parking garages receive a free parking benefit.

Direct Deposit

You can chose to have your bi-weekly pay deposited in the bank or credit union of your choice.
