UMMC Midtown provides interpretation and translation services for patients and visitors whose primary language is not English or for those with limited hearing or vision.

UMMC Midtown has free interpreter services available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, utilizing our VRI (Video Remote Interpreter). Please let your doctor or nurse know if you require interpreting services.

Language Interpretation/Translation

  • Access to Telephonic Interpretation with more than 170 languages
  • Language Line Service is available upon patient request

Hearing or Sight Impaired Interpretation

  • Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) is available for sign language interpretation
  • TTY (text telephone equipment) is available for hearing impaired
  • Certified sign language interpreter

When making a follow-up appointment, please inform staff that you will need interpreter services for your appointment. This will help us ensure the service is available when you need them.
