Two University of Maryland Medical System hospitals - the University of Maryland Medical Center (Downtown Campus) and UM St. Joseph Medical Center– rank among the top three hospitals in the Baltimore region and the state, according to the U.S. News & World Report's 2023 Best Hospitals, released today.

Willow Construction, LLC, recently made gifts totaling $2,000 to UM Memorial Hospital Foundation in celebration of the company's 50th anniversary. The gifts are designated to benefit patient care programs at the Clark Comprehensive Breast Center and the Cancer Center at UM Shore Regional Health.

University of Maryland Shore Regional Health is launching an in-person five-session workshop titled "Don't Worry, Be Healthy," designed to teach participants how to stay healthy by making healthier and safer choices. The class will be offered once per month, in-person at UM Shore Medical Center at Chestertown, 100 Brown Street, from 1 to 3 p.m., beginning Friday, July 28, with sessions running through November. There is no charge for the course, but registration is required.

The Blood Bank of Delmarva (BBD) has declared a severe blood shortage and is asking people across the region to donate blood to help replenish blood supplies.

Encompass Health Corp. and the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) today announced they have executed a joint venture agreement to own and operate Rehabilitation Hospital of Bowie. The 60-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital, located at 17351 Melford Boulevard, began serving patients in June 2023.
