The University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center (UM CRMC) is proud to announce the three-year certification of its Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR), which recognizes the hospital's commitment to improving the quality of life of patients by meeting and exceeding national standards of care.

To promote early detection of prostate cancer, the Cancer Program at University of Maryland Shore Regional Health plans to offer free prostate screenings in Chestertown and Easton in September.

Jameel Shareef, DO, a physician with advanced training in internal medicine and digestive disorders, has joined the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Group – Gastroenterology practice as the team of clinical providers continues to grow to meet the needs of the region's patients.

 

The University of Maryland Shore Regional Health is launching a series of free virtual classes this fall for people who may need encouragement to keep up with a healthy lifestyle. Jeanette Jeffrey, MS, MPH, MCHES, Health Educator for University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Chestertown will lead the Healthy for Life evidence-based community nutrition and well-being program designed to empower individuals to make healthy food, nutrition and lifestyle choices. 

The University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center (UM BWMC) will work with Caring Cupboard to provide standard pantry items to residents in select Anne Arundel County neighborhoods with limited access to grocery stores and healthy food options.

The University of Maryland Medical System today announced it is providing more than $2.3 million in grants across the state with a strategic focus on addressing issues of food insecurity and employment.

UM Shore Medical Center at Chestertown's Mobile Wellness Team engaged the community in wellness activities during National Night Out activities at Worton Park on August 2, 2022. Mobile Wellness Team members provided blood pressure screenings and pre-diabetes screenings, and distributed masks and hand sanitizer at the annual event which brought out community members and organizations together with law enforcement personnel for an evening of solidarity.

The Auxiliary of Memorial Hospital at Easton recently elected the following new officers for the 2022-2024 term: Liz Hannegan, President; Robert Coleman, 1st Vice President; Terry Stephan, 2nd Vice President; Janet Granger, Corresponding Secretary; Mary Mahoney, Recording Secretary and Gervois Wooters, Treasurer.

Danielle M. Wilson, MSN, RN, NE-BC, has joined UM Shore Regional Health as Director of Patient Care Services Operations. Wilson has over 17 years of experience in acute and chronic care management, nursing leadership, and hospital administration.

Members of the Chester River Yacht & Country Club organized and participated in the 11th annual Pink Polar Bear Golf Tournament on Sunday, July 24, raising over $2,600 to benefit patients served in the Eleanor & Ethel Leh Women's Center at UM Shore Medical Center at Chestertown. This year's event attracted 65 club members and guests.
