The University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center opened its new critical care unit with added advanced medical technology today, a renovation which aims to improve efficiency and meet growing community care needs.

The University of Maryland Memorial Hospital Foundation's 2022 annual appeal will benefit the Clark Comprehensive Breast Center at UM Shore Regional Health (UM SRH). Donations to the appeal, which is now in progress, will help support Breast Center services and the purchase of state-of-the art imaging software that enables providers to gather the most precise 3D images of breast tissue.

University of Maryland Shore Medical Group – Cardiology recently welcomed two new providers to the practice based at UM Shore Medical Pavilion at Easton, 500 Cadmus Lane, suite 207; Robert Malacoff, MD, FACC, FSCAI, FHRS, CCDS, and Robyn Lanasa, CRNP, FNP-BC.

Joel A. Sandler, MBA, BSN, RN, FACVP, has been named UM Capital Region Health's (UM Capital) new Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer. Sandler, who has been serving in an interim role, will have oversight of all nursing practices for inpatient, ambulatory, perioperative and procedural services, as well as behavioral health and patient engagement.

University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton, a member organization of the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS), has received an "A" Hospital Safety Grade in The Leapfrog Group’s fall 2022 reporting period. This marks the fifth consecutive period that the hospital has received an "A."

The University of Maryland Strategic Partnership: MPowering the State (MPower) today announced a transformative partnership to establish the University of Maryland 3 - Institute for Health Computing (UM-3-IHC), which is being led by the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) and the University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP), in collaboration with the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) and Montgomery County, Md. This new Institute will leverage recent advances in artificial intelligence (AI) and computing to create a premier learning health care system that evaluates both de-identified and secure digitized medical health data to diagnose, prevent and treat diseases in patients across the state of Maryland.

University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center Lights Up in Green to Honor Military Veterans

Milford Mace “Mickey” Foxwell, MD, and Ida Jane Baker, distinguished lifelong residents of Dorchester County, were honored in memoriam at a reception on October 27, 2022 at University of Maryland Shore Regional Health at Cambridge.

The UM Shore Medical Center at Cambridge just received a new, automatic cardiopulmonary resuscitation machine for its Emergency Department. The machine, called the LUCAS Device, cost more than $16,000 and its purchase was funded by the Dorchester General Hospital Foundation.
