University of Maryland Medicine, comprised of the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) and the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) has announced that it will end the use of a long-standing clinical standard that factors a patient's race into the diagnosis of chronic kidney disease (CKD).

University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Chestertown and University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton each received an "A" Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade for Fall 2021, making this the third consecutive period both hospitals have received the prestigious A grade. This national distinction recognizes the achievements of the hospitals in consistently protecting patients from harm and error.

Lara Wilson, Director of Rural Health Care Transformation for University of Maryland Shore Regional Health, was recently honored by the Maryland Rural Health Association as recipient of the organization's 2021 Outstanding Rural Health Advocate Award.

Today, I am happy to announce an important milestone: the hospital's designation as a Level 1 Age Friendly Health System (AFHS).

Services such as ultrasounds, mammograms, MRIs, and CT scans, currently scheduled using 410-822-1000, ext. 2600, will be scheduled by phone at 443-225-7474 or through fax at 410-822-0433.

The Baltimore Convention Center Field Hospital (BCCFH) recently administered its 3000th monoclonal antibody (mAb) treatment for COVID-19, a milestone for the lifesaving treatment and part of the hospital's multipronged fight against the pandemic.
