Spasticity Clinic

We hold this specialty clinic in the Outpatient Clinic area to address needs of patients with increased muscle tone, such as spasticity due to spinal cord injury, stroke or brain injury. The Clinic meets weekly. Patients see a rehabilitation nurse, physical therapist, and physical medicine and rehabilitation physician or neurologist during their appointment. They can expect an evaluation of their individualized needs regarding spasticity and how it affects their function. In addition, we will discuss several options to best respond to their needs.

A physician or therapist generally refers patients to this Clinic. However, in some instances, patients will refer themselves. Please note that we require a physician's order and insurance authorization for Spasticity Clinic services. For patients not currently receiving physical therapy services, we require a preliminary physical therapy screening evaluation in advance of the visit to the clinic.
