UM Rehab Occupational Therapist Receives Prestigious Neilson Foundation Research Award

University of Maryland Rehabilitation & Orthopaedic Institute occupational therapist Sara Kate Frye, MS OTR/L ATP, is one of two recipients of the 2017 Neilsen Foundation Allied Health Professional Research Award for her study entitled “Evaluation of Splinting in Tetraplegia.”
Frye will receive $25,000 to fund her study. She will also receive an award during the Awards Presentation session at the 2017 American Spinal Injury Association Scientific Meeting in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at the end of April.
The Neilsen Foundation Allied Health Professional Research Award of ASIA is a one-year award of $25,000 to a clinician at the Master’s or Clinical Doctorate level. The purpose of the award is to encourage clinicians in the field of spinal cord injury to incorporate an element of research into their professional practice.
