University of Maryland Shore Regional Health (UM SRH) is hosting its Annual Sporting Clays Classic on Saturday, October 21, at The Point at Pintail in Queenstown. Proceeds from the event will be designated for the Wellness for Women program at the Clark Comprehensive Breast Center at UM SRH.

The goal of Wellness for Women is to identify and educate women who are at risk for breast cancer so early diagnosis can be made when the disease is curable. The program offers free screening mammograms and breast exams for uninsured and underinsured women aged 20 to 39 and over 64, who meet income guidelines and assists with co-pays and high deductibles for those already insured.

Patients are referred by physicians, local health departments, family members and friends who have benefitted from the service. Additional diagnostic testing is covered by a special program easily obtained through an application process.

"The Wellness for Women Program is an important resource for our community," said Roberta Lilly, Medical Director of the Clark Comprehensive Breast Center. "Many lives are saved each year through early detection fostered by the program. We are deeply grateful to our clay shoot sponsors and participants, who help make this program possible."

This year's Sporting Clays Classic will feature 75 targets, lunch for participants and various prizes, raffles and a silent auction. Participant registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. and the shoot begins at 9:15 a.m. Registration fees are $125 per individual and $500 per team of four. Registration is limited to 300 participants.
