Bosom Buddies Charities Supports Equipment Purchases at UM Shore Regional Health’s Clark Comprehensive Center

Bosom Buddies Charities presented a gift of $135,000 to UM Memorial Hospital Foundation to benefit the Clark Comprehensive Breast Center at University of Maryland Shore Regional Health (UM SRH). Presented by Bosom Buddies Charities board and committee members, the donation will fund the purchase of a state-of the-art ultrasound machine that produces the clearest, deepest imaging available, reducing the incidence of false negative biopsies. The gift also will support the purchase of a new surgical headlamp that produces the brightest white light available.

UM Shore Regional Health Names Hilary Schmitt as Director of Operations

Hilary Schmitt recently was named Director of Operations at University of Maryland Shore Regional Health, where she will assume leadership of several non-clinical services including Clinical Engineering, Food and Nutrition Services and Environmental Services. Schmitt will also retain her role as Director of UM SRH's Heart and Vascular Services.

UM Shore Regional Health to Offer “Don’t Worry, Be Healthy” Course

University of Maryland Shore Regional Health is launching an in-person five-session workshop titled "Don't Worry, Be Healthy," designed to teach participants how to stay healthy by making healthier and safer choices. The class will be offered once per month, in-person at UM Shore Medical Center at Chestertown, 100 Brown Street, from 1 to 3 p.m., beginning Friday, July 28, with sessions running through November. There is no charge for the course, but registration is required.

UM Shore Regional Health to Offer “Breathe Again” Smoking Cessation Course

University of Maryland Shore Regional Health is launching an in-person and participatory five-session workshop titled "Breathe Again: A Journey to a Smoke-Free and Healthier YOU," designed to help smokers who wish to quit. The class will be offered in-person from 1 to 3 p.m., beginning Monday, July 10, with sessions running through November. There is no charge for the course, but registration is required.

HomePorts Sponsors SCOT Workshop: Organizing for Health Care Management

Shore Community Outreach Team (SCOT) will offer a free program, "Organizing Your Health," on Monday, July 17, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Chestertown Town Hall, 118 North Cross Street. The event is sponsored by HomePorts, a 501(c)3 charitable organization serving the needs of greater Kent County residents 55 and over. HomePorts' mission is to identify, monitor and ensure access to a wide range of services that help members to remain safe and live comfortably in their own homes.
