“Claws for a Cause” to benefit UM Shore Emergency Center at Queenstown

Final preparations are now under way for "Claws for a Cause," a crab feast fundraiser set for Thursday, September 14, from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Fisherman's Crab Deck in Grasonville. The annual event will benefit patient care services at University of Maryland Shore Emergency Center at Queenstown.

Cancer Program at UM Shore Regional Health to Offer Free Prostate Screening

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), prostate cancer is the most common type of cancer among men in the United States aside from non-melanoma skin cancer. Approximately one in eight men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during their lifetime, and about six cases in 10 are diagnosed in men aged 65 or older.

UM Shore Medical Center at Easton's Birthing Center Teams Recognized by Maryland Perinatal-Neonatal Quality Collaborative

The Birthing Center at University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton recently was recognized by the Maryland Perinatal-Neonatal Quality Collaborative (MPNQC) as a Platinum-level participant in the organization's Neonatal Hypertension and Neonatal Antibiotic Stewardship initiatives. This recognition highlights the Birthing Center and Pediatrics teams for their commitment to providing quality health care for new parents and newborns.

UM Shore Regional Welcomes Perioperative Services and Emergency Services Directors

University of Maryland Shore Regional Health (UM SRH) has welcomed Mary Grace Hensell, MHS, BSN, RN, CNOR, as Director of Perioperative Services, and Tisha Thompson, DNP, RN, NE-BC, as Regional Director of Emergency Services. In their new roles, Hensell and Thompson are responsible for perioperative services and emergency departments and services, respectively, in Cambridge, Chestertown, Easton and Queenstown.
